Promote your channel on Instagram with comment automation
About

Followers comment a word on your next post and get your YouTube, TikTok or podcast link by DM, plus one reminder after 2 hours. Copy a version.

Ask people to comment FULLVIDEO under your next post. Each one gets a public reply and a DM with one button. A tap brings your link card, everyone who taps goes into a "clicked" folder, and anyone who has not tapped after 2 hours gets one reminder.

Whole YouTube flow in Inrō: FULLVIDEO comment, button, Latest video link, YouTube video: clicked folder, 2-hour reminder

What the template does, step by step

The flow is the same for a video, a TikTok and an episode. The examples use the YouTube version.

A comment on your next post starts it

Inrō watches for comments that contain the keyword as a whole word, in capitals or not. It watches one post: the first one you publish after the date in its trigger, never an ad. You reset that date just before you post (see below).

Inrō answers under the comment through its comment to DM feature with one of three replies, picked at random: "Sent the video to your DMs", "Check your DMs for the video" or "Just sent it to your DMs 🙂". The public reply goes up once the DM has gone out.

One tap opens the conversation

Each commenter gets one message: "Want the full video? Tap below and it's yours." It is a button template, a message with a button, and here it has one: "Yes, send it".

It asks for a tap because Instagram lets a business send one private message to a person who commented, and the conversation continues once they respond (Meta for Developers, checked 23 October 2026). The tap is their reply, so your link can follow.

Across the 798,041 conversations in Inrō's DM Benchmark, conversion was 46% when the flow replied publicly as well as by DM, against 29% with a DM only. It was 32% with one button, against 2% with three.

Three public reply variants, then a button message: Want the full video? with a Yes, send it button

If nobody taps within 6 hours, the flow ends there and nothing else is sent.

Your link, then a folder

After the tap, a conversion link goes out: a link card whose taps Inrō records. Here it is titled "Latest video" with the button "Watch the video". It points to an example address you replace.

Everyone who taps goes into the folder "YouTube video: clicked", a CRM folder that lists those contacts. The folder shows who tapped your link, not who watched or followed.

Latest video link card: tapped adds the YouTube video: clicked folder; not tapped after 2 hours sends a reminder

One reminder after 2 hours

If a person has not tapped the link card after 2 hours, Inrō sends one message: "Have you checked the link yet?" If they tapped, nothing more is sent.

The 2 hours is a wait, not an end date: the link keeps working, and a tap after the reminder still goes into the folder.

What to change before you turn it on

The trigger comes set up: comments that contain FULLVIDEO, on your next post.

Inrō comment trigger: next post only, comments with the keyword FULLVIDEO

Check six things before you go live:

  1. The trigger date. Open the comment trigger. Under "Select the posts", "Next post only" reads "Automation will only trigger on the first post after" a date. Press Reset date, then Save scenario, just before you publish your post.
  2. The keyword. Keep FULLVIDEO, or pick a word that fits your post. Test it in the Comment-to-DM Keyword Planner, which checks a word against six things, including length and spelling.
  3. Your link. The link card points to an example address. Paste your own: a video, an episode or your profile.
  4. The word "video". The first DM and the link card both say "video". Change them to match what your link opens.
  5. Replies, folder and waits. Edit the three public replies in your voice, rename the folder, and change the waits (6 hours for the button, 2 hours before the reminder) if you like.
  6. Turn it on. Then publish your post.

Versions for YouTube, TikTok and podcasts

Same flow, same reminder. Only the keyword, public replies, first DM, link card and folder name change. Each link opens that version to copy.

Promote YouTube on Instagram with automation: send people to a video. Keyword FULLVIDEO. First DM: "Want the full video? Tap below and it's yours." Link card "Latest video" with the button "Watch the video". Folder "YouTube video: clicked". YouTube version

Promote TikTok on Instagram with automation: send people to your profile or one video. Keyword TIKTOK. First DM: "Want to find me on TikTok? Tap below for the link." Link card "My TikTok" with the button "Open TikTok". Folder "TikTok: clicked". The card holds one address, either your profile or one video. TikTok version

My TikTok link card: a tap on the link adds the TikTok: clicked folder; no tap after 2 hours sends a nudge

Promote a podcast on Instagram with automation: send listeners to your latest episode. Keyword EPISODE. First DM: "Want the full episode? Tap below and it's yours." Link card "Latest episode" with the button "Play the episode". Folder "Podcast: clicked". For the posts that bring comments, see how to grow a podcast audience on Instagram. Podcast version

Latest episode link card with Play the episode, a Podcast: clicked folder and a nudge after 2 hours

Inrō works on Instagram. The YouTube, TikTok or podcast link is only where the DM sends people. More flows are in the Instagram automation templates.

Best tips for your scenario

  • Choose what the link points to before you copy. The link card opens one address: a video, an episode or your whole profile. Make the first DM and the card say the same thing, so "Want the full video?" goes with a video link and "Want to find me on TikTok?" goes with a profile.
  • Say the word in the post and on screen. Write the keyword in capitals in the caption and show it in the video, so nobody has to guess it.
  • Give each post its own keyword. If two of your automations watch the same post, change the keyword in the trigger of each, or put them in a priority folder: a folder of automations where only the highest one in the list runs when several match the same comment.
  • Copy the template for each new video or episode. Each person gets the flow once, so a follower who got it for your last video gets nothing from the same copy on the next one.
  • Read the folder as "tapped". It lists the people who opened your link, which makes it the list to tell about your next upload. The podcast template sends one link card, not a choice of Apple Podcasts or Spotify: to offer a choice, paste a link to a page that lists your apps.

FAQ

Can you send a YouTube link in an Instagram DM?

Yes. This template sends it as a link card after the commenter taps one button. The same flow sends a TikTok or a podcast episode. For podcasts, how to grow a podcast audience on Instagram has the how-to behind it.

Should the link go to my profile or to one video?

Either. The link card holds one address. Use your profile to be found, or one video or episode when the post is about it, and change the words in the first DM and the card to match.

Does the link stop working after 2 hours?

No. The 2 hours is the wait before the one reminder. The link keeps working, and anyone who taps it goes into the "clicked" folder.

Does Inrō show who watched, listened or followed?

No. It shows who tapped your link, in the "clicked" folder.
