Answer every story reply with AI
About

Someone replies to your story with a question and your AI Agent answers in about 25 words, then files them in a folder. Copy the Instagram template.

Someone replies to your story with a question, like what a product costs or when you open, and your AI Agent answers in about 25 words. After the answer, the contact goes into the folder "Answers: asked", ready for your own follow-up. Copy the template, set up your agent and turn it on.

Whole flow in Inrō: story reply with AI-detected intent, AI Agent auto-DM, folder Answers: asked

What the template does, step by step

1. Someone replies to your story with a question

The template starts when someone replies to one of your stories. It works on any story you post while it is on, and a story reply reaches you as a DM. The story reply trigger is set to "AI-detected intent", so the flow starts only for replies that match this wording:

"The reply asks a question about the story, a product, a service, prices, opening hours or how to buy or book, in their own words. Not an emoji, a compliment alone, a complaint or a single keyword."

That is the one thing to know before you rely on the name. As built, the template answers the story replies that ask a question, not literally every reply. An emoji, a compliment on its own, a complaint or a single keyword does not start it, and neither does a reply with no words in it, like a sticker or a photo. To answer those as well, you widen the trigger (the setup section shows where).

Whether a given sentence counts as a question is decided by intent detection, so writing your own questions into the wording makes the match more precise.

2. Your AI Agent writes the answer

The one message step is called "AI Agent auto-DM", described in the builder as "Let your AI Agent reply once to the last message or comment". The template has no fixed text. The answer is written by your own AI Agent, in the tone of voice and from the knowledge you gave it, so you set the agent up before you turn the template on.

The step is set to "Normal message (~25 words)", so each answer stays short. The other choices are about 10, 50 or 100 words.

3. The contact goes into a folder

The last step adds the contact to the folder "Answers: asked". Filter your Inrō inbox and CRM by that folder and you see the people the template matched, each next to their conversation. Use it as your list for the questions that need you in person.

The template has no keyword, no link card and no reminder. If you want a link to go out when someone types a word on your story, that is a different flow: turn story replies into link clicks.

What to change before you turn it on

The trigger comes set up: someone replies to your story, on any story, and the reply has to match the AI-detected intent. The template arrives turned off.

Check five things before you go live:

  1. The intent wording. Keep the wording as it is, or rewrite it in your own words with the questions you really get: your products, prices, opening hours, how to book. The builder asks you to be as precise and specific as possible.
  2. Your AI Agent. The answer comes from your agent's tone and knowledge, so fill in both first. Check that the agent is not set to "Disable all replies": in that mode it never sends a message, even from an automation, and the step sends nothing. The step still works if your agent is not set to answer DMs on its own.
  3. Which story. The template uses "Any story". To narrow it, choose "Stories with a keyword", "Stories with a URL" or "Stories showing something". To answer more than questions, open "Which replies" in the same trigger and choose another option: "Any reply", "Contains a keyword" or "Only emojis".
  4. The reply length. The step is set to about 25 words. Change it to about 10, 50 or 100 if your answers need less or more room.
  5. The folder. When you copy the template, it creates the folder "Answers: asked" in your account (or reuses one with that name). Rename it if you keep one list per product or service.

Then switch the automation on.

Best tips for your scenario

  • Describe the questions you really get. Rewrite the intent in your own words, with your products, prices, hours and booking questions. The more precise the wording, the better the match.
  • Set up your AI Agent first. Add what customers ask about to its knowledge and check its tone of voice. Every answer is written in that tone and from that knowledge.
  • Keep it apart from your keyword story templates. If you also run a flow that starts on a keyword in a story reply, a reply like "REPLAY, when does the course start?" may match both. Put the two in a priority folder: a folder of automations where only the highest one in the list runs when several match the same story reply.
  • Go through "Answers: asked" every day. The folder lists the people the template matched, next to their conversation. Answer by hand when a question needs you.
  • Widen the trigger if you want to answer more. To reply to compliments and emojis too, change "Which replies" to "Any reply". The template then starts on any reply, so check that your agent's knowledge and tone fit them.
