About

Someone comments SHOPLIST and gets your list of affiliate links by DM, plus one reminder 2 hours later if they have not opened it. Copy the template.

Ask people to comment SHOPLIST on your next post. Inrō answers under the comment, sends a DM with one button, then your list of affiliate links on a card that says "I may earn from purchases". Everyone who opens the list goes into a folder, and anyone who has not opened it after 2 hours gets one reminder.

Whole affiliate links flow in Inrō: SHOPLIST comment, public reply, button, link card, clicked folder and 2-hour reminder

What the template does, step by step

1. Someone comments SHOPLIST on your next post

This is a comment to DM flow. The trigger listens to comments on the first post you publish after its date. It reacts to top-level comments only, not to replies under other comments, and your own comments never start it.

The keyword can sit inside a longer comment, in capitals or not: "shoplist please" starts the flow, and so does "shoplists". Two words, "shop list", do not. Add that spelling as a second keyword if your audience types it.

2. A public reply and a one-tap DM

Inrō first answers under the comment with one of three replies, picked at random: "Sent the list to your DMs", "Check your DMs for the list" or "Just sent it to your DMs", each with a smiling emoji. The reply goes up once the DM has gone out.

The DM is one short message, 49 characters: "Want the list of links? Tap below and it's yours." It has one button, "Yes, send it". Instagram lets a business send one private message to a person who commented, and the conversation continues once the person responds. The tap is that response, so your list can follow in the next message. If nobody taps within 6 hours, the flow stops there and nothing else is sent.

Three public replies under the comment, then a one-button DM: Want the list of links? Yes, send it

3. Your list, on a card that carries a line about earning

After the tap, the next message is a link card titled "My product list". Under the title sits the line "I may earn from purchases", and the button reads "See the list". The card holds one address, so it points to one page that lists your links, not to one link per product. The address in the template is an example that you replace.

4. A tap files them in a folder

Everyone who opens the list is added to the folder "Affiliate links: clicked", even if they open it after the reminder. Filter your Inrō inbox and CRM by that folder and you see who opened your list, each next to their conversation.

Inrō records who opened the list, not who bought. Sales and commissions show in your affiliate network's own dashboard.

5. No tap after 2 hours: one reminder

Someone who has not opened the list 2 hours after it arrived gets one message: "Have you checked the link yet?" Someone who opened it in time gets nothing more. The 2 hours is only the wait before the reminder, and the link keeps working after it.

What to change before you turn it on

The trigger comes set up: comments that contain SHOPLIST, on your next post, top-level comments only. The flow runs once per person, and the copy arrives turned off, so nothing goes out until you switch it on.

Inrō comment trigger: someone comments the keyword SHOPLIST on your next post only

Check six things before you go live:

  1. The trigger date. The trigger counts from a saved date and watches the first post published after it. Just before you publish your SHOPLIST post, open the trigger, press Reset date and then Save scenario.
  2. The keyword. Keep SHOPLIST or pick your own word, and say it in your caption or video. Add SHOP LIST as an extra keyword if your audience types two words.
  3. The link. The "My product list" card points to an example inro.social address. Paste your own affiliate link or the page that lists your links. Inrō adds tracking parameters to the address, so before you go live open the card from a second account and check that you land where your affiliate network says. You can tag your own address with the UTM link generator.
  4. The line on the card. "I may earn from purchases" is text on the card. Keep it or change the line to fit how you share links, and keep the card title in the words of your post.
  5. The texts. Edit the three public replies, the DM and the reminder to sound like you. Keep the DM under 120 characters: first messages that short converted at 39% in our DM Benchmark, against 22% for longer ones.
  6. The folder and the waits. Rename "Affiliate links: clicked" if you keep one list per post. You can also change the 6 hours the button waits and the 2 hours before the reminder.

Then turn the scenario on.

Best tips for your scenario

  • Give each post its own keyword and its own link. The card holds one address. Copy the template for your next post, change the keyword and the link, and press Reset date before that post. Give each copy its own word so they do not clash.
  • Say the word where people see the post. The trigger listens to comments on your next post, so put SHOPLIST in the caption, or say it in the video.
  • Test the link from a second account. Your own comments never start the flow. Comment from another account, tap through and read the address you land on, so you see what your audience sees.
  • Go through "Affiliate links: clicked" and compare it with your network's report. The folder lists who opened your list, and the reminder goes only to those who did not. If you reply to people by hand, switch on "Interrupt when you reply manually" in the scenario settings, or the reminder still goes out after your message.
  • Keep it apart from your other comment automations. When two of them match the same word on the same post, give them different keywords, or put them in a priority folder, which runs only the highest-ranked automation when several match one comment.

FAQ

How do I send affiliate links from Instagram comments?

Ask people to comment a keyword on your next post. This template replies under the comment, sends your list of links by DM and reminds anyone who has not opened it. For where to place affiliate links, see the guide on Instagram affiliate links.

Can I use a different link for each post?

Yes. Copy the template once per post, with its own keyword and its own link. Press Reset date in each copy before its post.

Does a second comment send the list again?

The flow runs once per person. A second comment from the same person gets no second answer.

What is the 2 hours for?

It is how long Inrō waits before sending the reminder. Nothing expires: your list stays open for anyone who taps it later, and that person is still filed under "Affiliate links: clicked".
