Free audit lead magnet for Instagram

Want leads who ask you for a free audit? This template answers each commenter in their DMs, asks for a work email and sends your audit link, then reminds the people who have not opened it.

Free audit lead magnet for Instagram
About

Someone comments FREEAUDIT, taps once, and your audit link arrives in their DMs after a work email question. Copy the template.

Offer a free audit in a post and ask people to comment FREEAUDIT. Each commenter gets a DM with one button, then a question: what is your work email? The audit link follows whether they answer or not. Everyone who opens it joins the folder "Free audit: clicked", and one reminder goes to those who have not.

What the template does, step by step

1. Someone comments FREEAUDIT

The flow reacts to top-level comments on one post: the first one you publish after the date in its trigger. A reply inside another person's comment thread does nothing. Capitals or not, FREEAUDIT counts.

Inrō sends the DM through its comment to DM feature. Under the comment it posts one of three public replies, picked at random: "Sent you the details by DM.", "It's in your DMs." or "Check your DMs, we've sent it." The reply goes up only once the DM has gone out.

2. The first message

The first DM reads "The free audit template is ready. Want us to send it here?" with one button, "Send it over".

It asks for a tap, not an answer. Instagram lets a business send one private message to someone who commented, and the conversation continues only when the person responds (Meta for Developers, checked 23 October 2026). The tap counts as their response, so the email question can follow.

The opener is 58 characters. In Inrō's DM Benchmark of 798,041 conversations, first messages under 120 characters converted at 39%, against 22% for longer ones, a benchmark figure and not a result from this template. The button waits 6 hours; with no tap, the flow stops and nothing else is sent.

3. The work-email question

After the tap, Inrō asks "What's your work email? The free audit template comes right after." The answer is saved on the contact as their email, and it can sit inside a sentence, like "sure, it's anna@acme.com".

The email is asked for, not required. A reply without one gets a retry message; after a second reply without an email, the link goes out and nothing is saved. After 2 hours of silence, the link arrives too.

4. Your audit link

The link arrives as a link card titled "Free audit template", with the button "Open the template". People who gave an email and people who did not get the same card. Behind it goes whatever starts your audit: a request form, a short questionnaire or your booking page. For the questionnaire, the lead qualifying questions generator suggests qualifying questions to ask.

5. The folder and the reminder

Everyone who taps "Open the template" joins the folder "Free audit: clicked", your follow-up list.

A person who gave an email and has not tapped after 2 hours gets one message: "No rush. The link is above when you have a minute." A person who skipped the email gets no reminder. The 2 hours is only the wait before it: a tap after the reminder still counts and the person joins the folder. Inrō records the tap, not who then fills in your form.

What to change before you turn it on

The trigger comes set up: comments that contain FREEAUDIT, on your next post, top-level comments only, and the flow runs once per person.

Comment trigger in Inrō: next post only, comments with the keyword FREEAUDIT, and three public replies

Check six things before you go live:

  1. The trigger date. Under "Select the posts", "Next post only" counts from a date. Press Reset date, then Save scenario, just before you publish the post that asks for FREEAUDIT.
  2. The keyword. Keep FREEAUDIT or pick a word for your own offer, and write it in your caption exactly as it is in the trigger.
  3. The work-email question. Keep its second sentence, "The free audit template comes right after.": it tells people the audit follows their answer.
  4. The audit link, in both cards. The two link cards hold the same example address: one for people who answered the email question, one for people who did not. They are separate links, so paste your request form or booking page into each. Change only one and the other path still sends the example address.
  5. The retry message. The template says "reply SKIP to get it without one". Inrō does not treat SKIP as a command: any second reply without an email sends the link. Reword it to say what happens, for example: "That doesn't look like an email. Try again with your work email, or send any other message and your link comes anyway."
  6. The folder, the reminder and the cards. Rename "Free audit: clicked" after your offer, and change the reminder text and the card title and button if you want your own tone.

The waits are 6 hours for the button, 2 hours for the email answer and 2 hours before the reminder. The template sends no email alert, so your leads are the folder and the saved emails on the contacts.

Best tips for your scenario

  • Offer a set number of audits in the post. Say "5 free audits this week" in the caption. The flow answers every commenter, so the limit lives in your post. To see what each lead costs you, use the Instagram cost per lead calculator.
  • Write FREEAUDIT as one word in the caption and the video. The trigger looks for that word, so the comment people type is the one the flow reads.
  • Ask only what you need behind the link. The tap opens your form or booking page, so ask only for what you need to start the audit, for example a website address and one sentence about the goal.
  • Give each automation its own word. If another automation listens for FREEAUDIT on the same post, change the word in one of them, or put both in a priority folder: a folder of automations where only the highest one in the list runs when several match the same comment.
  • Turn on "Interrupt when you reply manually" if you answer leads by hand. This template does not stop for a manual reply, so the reminder can land in the middle of your conversation. Switch the setting on in the scenario settings to prevent that.
  • Follow up from "Free audit: clicked". Message those people soon after they tap, and use the saved work email for the ones who gave one.

FAQ

Do people have to give their email to get the audit?

No. A second reply without an email sends the link anyway, and so do 2 hours of silence. The person gets the link and no email is saved.

What do I put behind "Open the template"?

Your own audit request page: a form, a short questionnaire or a booking page. Replace the example address in both link cards. Inrō records who taps the link, not who then fills in the form.

What if someone comments twice?

The template runs once per person, so a second comment from the same account starts nothing. To test it, comment from a second account.

Is this an Instagram audit tool?

No. It does not audit anyone's account. It is a DM flow that hands out your audit offer: the comment, the work-email question and your link. The audit is the work you do once someone opens it.
