Inrō is the ManyChat alternative built only for Instagram: it fits any account whose customers comment, reply to stories and send DMs there, and its AI Agent is included in Pro. The other ManyChat alternatives and competitors are narrower picks: InstantDM for a flat fee, Chatfuel for one plan across channels, respond.io for a shared team inbox, UChat for a low-cost builder and Botpress to build your own AI agent. All figures below were read on the vendors' own pages on 28 October 2026, InstantDM's credit rules on 29 October.

Pick Inrō when your customers are on Instagram, since it automates comments, story replies and DMs, AI Agent included in Pro; otherwise InstantDM suits a flat fee, Chatfuel several channels, respond.io team inboxes, Botpress your own agent, and ManyChat itself WhatsApp, SMS or email.
How to choose: look at what each tool counts and what it does in your busiest month, not at the entry price. A bill based on contacts, like ManyChat's or Inrō's, grows with the number of people you reach that month, while a flat fee or a credit wallet moves with something else, so price last month in each unit.
Start with the bill in a busy month. ManyChat bills on active contacts: a contact "who has interacted with you through Manychat during your current billing month", counted once, with the count reset every billing cycle (ManyChat's Active Contacts article, checked 28 October 2026). See what an active contact is.
Past your plan's allowance, by default automations keep running and the overage is added to your next bill. ManyChat notifies you at 70%, 90% and 100% of your limit, according to its help center on 28 October 2026. You can set an overage threshold in Settings, Billing, Subscription, after which automations run only for contacts already active that cycle, and automations "may eventually pause" if an account grows "well beyond" its plan's maximum without upgrading (ManyChat's Active Contacts article).
Two more things push accounts away:
Each tool below takes over one job ManyChat does and counts something different on the bill. Inrō, built only for Instagram, answers comments, story replies, DMs, Live comments, mentions, ad clicks and icebreakers.
It counts activated contacts: once a month, when an automation, a DM campaign or the AI Agent first acts on someone. Replies you type in the Inbox never count. Choose between Inrō's Free and Pro plans.
What each other tool does better, and what Inrō has instead:
For the two products side by side, read ManyChat and Inrō compared. If all you need is one link sent after a comment, the Linktree alternatives for sending a link cover that job. What each tool counts and does over its limit is in the next section.
How we picked them: one tool for each job a ManyChat account does, with every plan detail read on the tool's own pricing or help pages on 28 October 2026 (InstantDM's credit rules on 29 October). Tools that do the same job as one already listed were left out.
Still comparing?
Pay for what your automations do, not the replies you type
Inrō counts a contact once a month, when an automation, a DM campaign or the AI Agent acts on them; your own Inbox replies never count. Free for 100 activated contacts a month.
Free plan, no card
ManyChat is still the better fit for some accounts. Stay if:
Decide first which channels you need to answer. If your conversations start on Instagram, Inrō covers them on its own; if you also reply on WhatsApp, SMS or email, choose a tool that connects those channels, because Inrō answers on Instagram only. Never run two DM automation tools on one Instagram account at once (Inrō's help article on the thread ownership error): turn off ManyChat's Instagram automations and disconnect it, check that no default app is set in Instagram's conversation routing, then turn the new tool on.
Your contacts do not move as a list, because on Instagram a conversation begins only when the person messages you (Meta's Instagram messaging docs). Inrō imports your recent Instagram conversation history when you connect, but not a spreadsheet or another CRM (how contacts get into Inrō). Set up the keyword and the DM from the comment-for-link template; the guide to moving your account to Inrō covers the first steps.
Yes. Inrō Free asks for no card and covers 100 activated contacts a month, with 3 DM campaigns a month, 3 active automations and 50 AI Agent credits. On 28 October 2026, UChat was free for 200 contacts and Botpress for 100 conversations in total. InstantDM starts new accounts on 500 credits, 1 per DM Instagram accepts (its help center, 29 October 2026; its pricing page says 500 DM automations a month). ManyChat Free covers 25 active contacts a month.
Inrō includes its AI Agent on Pro at no extra cost, from €12.99 a month. On 28 October 2026, Chatfuel Business S came with $20 of AI credits a month, respond.io included AI Agents from Growth ($199 a month) and Botpress Free included 3 AI agents. InstantDM Trendsetter and UChat run AI on your own model key. ManyChat starts AI on Pro at $39 a month.
It depends on your busiest month, because each tool counts something different. Inrō Pro starts at €12.99 a month, metered with no cap by default, and you can set your own monthly limit. On 28 October 2026 the entry plans were $17 a month for ManyChat Essential, $12 for InstantDM, $15 for UChat, $20 for Chatfuel and $99 for respond.io. If you are comparing DM tools on cost, price ManyChat and Inrō at your own contact volume.
ManyChat's help center says it is an official Meta Business Partner and works directly with Instagram's official APIs (ManyChat on Meta approval, 28 October 2026). Inrō, an official Meta Tech Provider, uses Instagram's official API as well. For what to check in any tool, read how to keep Instagram automation safe.
Inrō cannot: it does not send a DM when someone follows you (Inrō's help article on follow-to-DM). ManyChat's Free plan article lists "a welcome message when someone follows your account" (28 October 2026). If that welcome DM matters most, it is a reason to stay on ManyChat.
