A DM campaign is a message or message flow you send to a group of Instagram contacts you choose, now or at a scheduled time, instead of in reply to something a contact did.
A DM campaign is a message you send to a group of Instagram contacts you choose, at a time you choose. It does not wait for the contact to do anything first. In Inrō you build DM campaigns for your Instagram contacts on the Campaigns page, then send them now or schedule them.
An automation on the Scenarios page starts from a trigger, such as a contact commenting on a post or sending you a DM. A campaign starts when you press Send campaign, or at the date you scheduled.
A campaign can be a single message or several steps with delays and branches. You build it in the same flow builder as a scenario.
The contacts you pick under Send campaign to: saved audience segments, CRM folders or both. Under Don't send campaign to, you leave others out.
Inrō then narrows the list:
Meta still decides whether each DM is delivered, under the 24-hour messaging window.
Inrō fixes the recipient list at that moment and sends to it in batches, through a batch task.
A contact the campaign messages counts as a contact activation once per billing period, so a contact already activated this period adds nothing. If your plan's cap is reached partway, the remaining contacts show as Limit reached, and Resend to these contacts sends to them later.
To stop a campaign for everyone it has not reached yet, use Cancel campaign. Through the Inrō API or the Inrō MCP server, you can also set a campaign to stop for a contact when they reply, and to start a scenario of your choice when they do. The API and MCP server are not part of the Free plan. More terms like this one are in the Inrō automation glossary.
