Inrō is the Instagram-native Chatfuel alternative: button flows plus an AI agent, for anyone whose customers write on Instagram. Chatfuel today is an AI sales agent built WhatsApp first, with no flow builder, no buttons and no free plan. Narrower picks: Wati for WhatsApp, Botpress to code an agent, ManyChat for Messenger too, LinkDM for plain comment-to-DM. Vendor prices were checked on 28 October 2026, each on the vendor's own page.

Pick Inrō if your customers write on Instagram and you want button flows plus an AI agent; Wati if WhatsApp is where you sell, Botpress to code your own agent, ManyChat for Messenger too, LinkDM for plain comment-to-DM; stay on Chatfuel for one agent across five channels.
How to choose: start from what you built in Chatfuel and where customers write to you. Button flows on Instagram need a tool that still has a flow builder, such as Inrō; sales chats on WhatsApp need a WhatsApp tool, or Chatfuel itself.
Chatfuel changed under the people who built bots in it. It now calls itself "the AI agent that turns every chat into a sale" on its homepage, and its getting-started article says that when you connect a channel, "The most common choice is WhatsApp." Instagram is one of five channels.
What that means if you built Instagram flows in it:
One reviewer on Trustpilot wrote on 11 October 2026 that a free offer was gone after signup; Chatfuel replied that its current pricing is on its pricing page.
Most people leaving Chatfuel want back what they built in it: Instagram flows with buttons. Inrō and ManyChat still have a flow builder with buttons and quick replies; ManyChat's also covers Messenger, Inrō's covers Instagram only. LinkDM sends a DM when someone comments, which Inrō's free plan does too.
Wati and Botpress go the way Chatfuel went. Wati answers WhatsApp and Instagram from one team inbox; Inrō's inbox holds Instagram conversations only. Botpress lets developers code their own agent; Inrō's AI agent is set up with a role, tone, goals and style rules instead.
Inrō, an official Meta Tech Provider, includes the AI agent on Pro with no message cap, and you can set your own monthly limit. The free plan is counted in activated contacts; compare Inrō's Free and Pro plans.
Side by side with Inrō: Inrō vs Chatfuel for the AI agents, Inrō vs ManyChat for the flow builders, Inrō vs LinkDM for comment-to-DM, and a tool to estimate what Inrō and ManyChat would cost you. WhatsApp-first readers have their own list in our respond.io alternatives.
How we picked them: each tool replaces one job people used Chatfuel for, and every price and plan detail comes from the tool's own pricing or help pages, read on 28 October 2026. Tools whose pages we could not read were left out.

Keep buttons in your Instagram DMs
Inrō's flow builder sends buttons and quick replies, and its AI agent can take the conversation over. The free plan covers 100 activated contacts a month.
Free plan, no card
Stay on Chatfuel if:
Follow your customers' messages. If they write to you on Instagram, move to Inrō and cancel Chatfuel. If most of them write on WhatsApp, stay on Chatfuel or move to Wati, which puts WhatsApp and Instagram in one inbox.
Rebuild your automations in the new tool. Start with comment-to-DM flows, which reach an 18.6% click rate in Inrō, according to its production data. Begin from the comment-for-link template and change the words. A past-comment trigger also answers matching comments already on your posts, and Inrō offers comment-ratio throttling, which replies to only a share of comments at random, and human pacing.
Bring your knowledge base as files. Inrō's AI agent learns from PDFs and text files, or from a website URL it scrapes.
Switch over in order. Never run two auto-DM tools on one Instagram account at the same time: turn Chatfuel's Instagram automations off before Inrō's go on, then cancel Chatfuel.
Chatfuel is not; Inrō is, for Instagram accounts, with a free plan that covers 100 activated contacts a month. On 28 October 2026, Chatfuel's pricing page showed no free plan, and Business S cost US$20 a month, or US$18 a month billed yearly. Its 7-day trial comes with US$15 of credits and needs a card, according to Chatfuel's help center. ManyChat, Botpress and LinkDM also have free plans.
The current Chatfuel has no Flows button, and its help center says it does not support button menus or quick reply buttons, both by design. If you want buttons back in Instagram DMs, Inrō and ManyChat both send them; ManyChat's help center says its quick replies work on Facebook and Instagram only (checked 28 October 2026).
Inrō, if you want Instagram flows with buttons plus an AI agent in one tool built for Instagram alone. If you need Messenger too, ManyChat's flow builder covers both. If you only send a link when someone comments, LinkDM's free plan sent up to 1,000 DMs a month on LinkDM's pricing page on 28 October 2026.
Plan to rebuild them rather than move them. In Inrō, the AI agent's knowledge base takes PDFs, text files or a website URL, so you can add your Chatfuel knowledge again. Turn Chatfuel's Instagram automations off before the new tool's go on, so two auto-DM tools never run on one Instagram account.
Not Inrō, which works on Instagram only. Wati does: its Growth plan puts WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and a website widget in one inbox, with DM and comment automations for Instagram, for US$69 a month or US$59 a month billed annually on Wati's pricing page (28 October 2026).
Built only for Instagram, with the AI agent included in Pro. Rebuild your flows from a template or a prompt.
