Contact property

Contact property

Definition

A contact property is a field you create to store one piece of information about each contact, such as a budget or a country. In Inrō, the AI can fill it from the DM conversation, guided by the property's description.

A contact property is a field you create to store one piece of information about each contact, such as a budget, a country or a pipeline stage. Inrō's AI can fill a property for you from the DM conversation, and the description you write tells it what to save.

What types can a contact property have?

Inrō's property types are text, number, date, email, phone, URL, boolean (yes or no), list, single choice and multiple choice. Single and multiple choice take a list of options you define, with at least one.

The type decides what a valid value looks like. When the AI fills a number property, it saves a number or nothing. On a choice property, it only ever saves one of your options. Pick the type with care: in the app, it is locked once the property exists.

How does Inrō fill a contact property from a DM?

You add the property to User data collection in your AI agent settings. From then on, Inrō fills it in as the conversation goes.

Four rules apply when the AI fills a property:

  1. It saves a value only when the conversation makes it clear.
  2. It drops any value that does not fit the property's type.
  3. On a choice property, it drops anything that is not one of your options.
  4. It never overwrites a property that already has a value, whether you typed it or the AI saved it earlier.

Why does the property description matter?

The AI works from the property's name, its type and your description, so the description is where you explain what counts.

Take a property called "Budget". The name alone does not say whether you mean a monthly amount or a total, in which currency, or where people usually mention it. A description such as "Monthly budget the contact states for coaching, in euros, usually said in DMs" does.

Leave the description blank and Inrō writes a generic one from the name. That line cannot know your business, so your own gives the AI a clearer brief.

Where do you use a contact property?

Every value sits on the contact's profile in Inrō's Instagram CRM inbox. In messages, you insert it as a variable, {{ contact.<slug> }}, in automations and DM campaigns. You can also build a contact filter or an audience segment on any property value. Other terms sit in the Inrō glossary.
