You cannot make a Reel caption link clickable. Here are the three routes that work: Meta Verified, paid promotion, or sending the link by DM.

The route that works on every account
Viewers comment a keyword, Inrō sends the link in a DM and saves the contact. Works on every Reel, no subscription needed. Free plan, no card.
You cannot make a link in a Reel caption clickable. Instagram renders URLs in captions as plain text, so viewers would have to copy and paste, and almost nobody does. There are three ways to get a genuinely tappable link attached to a Reel: pay for Meta Verified at the Plus tier or above, run the Reel as a paid promotion, or send the link in a DM triggered by a comment. The third costs nothing and works on any account.
| Route | Who can use it | Cost | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native link in Reel | Meta Verified business, Plus tier and above | From $44.99 a month | 2 to 6 linked Reels a month by tier |
| Paid promotion | Any Business or Creator account with an ad account | Your ad spend | Link disappears when the campaign stops |
| Comment-to-DM | Any account | Free tier available | None, works on every Reel |
| Link in bio | Any account | Free | One destination at a time, extra steps for the viewer |
Links in Reels sit on Meta's business subscription, not the creator one. This trips people up: a creator paying for Meta Verified does not get Reels links, because that perk only exists on the business plans.
The business tiers, as announced by Meta, are $14.99 for Standard, $44.99 for Plus, $119.99 for Premium and $349.99 for Max per month. Standard includes the badge, impersonation protection and support, but no Reels links. Links start at Plus and are metered: 2 a month on Plus, 4 on Premium, 6 on Max.
Three details that matter before you subscribe.
Prices above are the US business tiers as published by Meta and reported at launch, checked July 2026. They vary by region, so confirm on Meta's own subscription page before buying.
Two linked Reels a month for $44.99 is the deal on the table, so the question is whether two posts a month with a tappable link move enough revenue to cover it.
Probably not worth it if you do not have a clear offer yet, your Reels reach is inconsistent, or you are not currently tracking what Instagram traffic is worth to you. If you cannot say what a click is worth, you cannot say whether the subscription pays for itself.
Worth testing if Instagram already drives real revenue, you post Reels consistently, and you have specific high-intent content, a demo, a tutorial, a case study, that would convert better with a direct route out.
If you do subscribe, treat each linked Reel as a campaign rather than a post. Two a month means one flagship Reel pointing at your main offer, and one saved for a launch or a drop. Put UTMs on the destination so you can actually measure whether it earned its keep, because that is the only way to answer the renewal question in three months.
Any Business or Creator account with a connected ad account can add a clickable button to a Reel by promoting it. No verification, no follower threshold.
The link appears as a call-to-action button under the Reel, marked Sponsored, and it disappears when the campaign ends.
The reason to prefer this over a subscription: you pay per campaign rather than monthly, and you only spend on Reels that are already performing. A short boost on a Reel that is doing well costs less than a month of Plus, and you are not paying in a month where you have nothing to promote. The reason to prefer the subscription: the link is organic rather than an ad, and some audiences respond differently to a Sponsored label.
The workaround that needs no subscription and no ad budget is to stop trying to make the Reel itself clickable, and put the link in a conversation instead.
You add a line to the caption, something like comment LINK and I will send it over. Anyone who comments that keyword gets an automatic DM with the URL, within seconds, while they are still watching.
This is not a consolation prize, and it is worth understanding why. A tappable link is anonymous: someone taps, leaves, and you never know who they were. A DM produces a named contact you can message again, in a thread that stays open, with the chance to answer a question before they decide. Across Inrō's own automations, DMs average a 90% open rate, a 60% reply rate and a 28% click-through rate.
It also has no monthly cap. Every Reel you post can carry a keyword, not two of them.
The practical setup: pick a short keyword that fits the content, write the DM so it delivers the thing immediately rather than opening with a pitch, and set a public reply on the comment so other viewers see that it works and comment too. More detail on the mechanics is in sending links in Instagram DMs and generating leads from Reels.

The routes are not exclusive. Plenty of accounts run a linked Reel for the people ready to act now and a keyword for everyone who wants to ask something first, which catches both.
A keyword in the caption, an instant DM with your link, and a contact you can follow up with. Free plan, no card required.

No. Instagram shows URLs in captions as plain text, so a viewer would have to copy and paste it into a browser. In practice that means almost nobody follows it, which is why the caption is better used for a keyword prompt than a URL.
No. Links in Reels are a business subscription perk, starting at the Plus tier. The creator subscription does not include them, which is the most common misunderstanding about this feature.
Two a month on Plus, four on Premium, six on Max. The cap counts Reels that can carry a link, not the number of URLs. Standard gets none.
Not as a tappable link on the Reel itself. What you can do for free is put a keyword in the caption and have the link sent automatically by DM to anyone who comments it. That works on every Reel with no cap, and gives you a contact rather than an anonymous click.
No. The call-to-action button exists only while the promotion is running and disappears when the campaign ends. If you want a permanent route out of the Reel, the caption keyword is the one that stays.
Almost always because the account is not on a business Meta Verified plan at Plus or above, or is on Standard, which does not include the perk. It is also worth checking that you are subscribed on the account you are posting from, since the subscription covers one account at a time.
