The best ManyChat alternative depends on what you are replacing. For the bill: InstantDM charges a flat fee, Chatfuel a flat fee plus a usage wallet, and Inrō counts only contacts its automations act on, never manual DMs. For Instagram depth, Inrō. Start with the bill. ManyChat bills on active contacts: anyone who interacts with you through ManyChat in a billing month, counted once. The count resets monthly and quiet contacts do not count (ManyChat's active contacts article, checked 8 October 2026). See what ManyChat counts as an active contact.
Essential costs $17 a month for 250 active contacts, or $14 billed yearly; Pro costs $39 a month for 2,500, or $29 billed yearly. Past the allowance, automations keep running and ManyChat adds overage to your next bill by default: $0.10 per extra contact on Essential and $0.05 on Pro, on monthly billing. You can set an overage threshold, after which automations reach only contacts already active that month (Essential plan, Pro plan, checked 8 October 2026).
ManyChat introduced this pricing on 2 March 2026 and is moving older accounts over country by country. Before that, Pro's price scaled with every contact in your list, active or not (ManyChat's older Pro pricing article, checked 8 October 2026). If your bill grows with contacts who never write back, check which pricing your account is on.
ManyChat ran on Facebook Messenger before it began opening Instagram to all accounts in June 2021 (ManyChat's announcement). Today Essential connects 2 channels, Pro any 3 and Business all of them (Essential plan, Business plan, checked 8 October 2026).
ManyChat says AI is built into Pro and the plans above it, with no separate add-on, so its cheapest plan with AI is Pro at $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly (ManyChat's pricing explainer, checked 8 October 2026).
Usually because of Meta's rules, which apply to every tool. On Instagram, a business can message someone only after that person acts first: sends a DM, replies to a story, taps a click-to-DM ad, or comments, which allows one private reply. Most of these actions open a 24-hour window for automated messages (Meta's Instagram messaging docs; see the 24-hour messaging window). After that, a person on your team can still reply by hand for up to 7 days with Meta's human agent tag (Meta's messaging policy), but automations are not delivered in that window (ManyChat on messaging windows).
A broadcast to people who have not interacted with you recently will not reach them, whichever tool sends it. What differs between tools is how easily you can segment people still inside the window.
Stay on ManyChat if you run Instagram alongside WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS or email. Pro connects any 3 channels and Business ($99 a month, or $69 billed yearly) connects all of them. Overage per contact also falls as you move up, to $0.025 on Business and $0.004 or less on Advanced, on monthly billing (Business plan, Advanced plan, checked 8 October 2026). With an overage threshold set, the bill has a ceiling.

Inrō works on Instagram only, as a Meta Tech Provider, with triggers for comments, story replies, story mentions, DMs, Live comments, icebreakers, mentions and click-to-DM ads. It bills on activated contacts: a contact counts once a month, when an automation, a DM campaign or the AI agent first acts on them. DMs you send by hand never count (how Inrō counts a contact activation).
The Free plan covers 100 activated contacts a month, 3 active automations, 3 DM campaigns a month and 50 AI Agent credits, and it is capped. Pro starts at €12.99 a month with the AI Agent included and is metered with no cap. Inrō does not cover WhatsApp, Messenger or TikTok, or send a DM to every new follower.
InstantDM is free for 500 DM automations a month. Legend Pro is $12 a month, or $9.99 billed yearly, and adds a contacts list with tags and CSV export. Its AI agent starts on Trendsetter at $29.99 a month and runs on your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek key (InstantDM pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
LinkDM is free for one account and 1,000 DMs a month. Pro is $19 a month for 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs a month, with lead forms that collect email, name, phone and birthday inside the DM. It lists no AI features on any plan (LinkDM pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Chatfuel has no free plan, only a 7-day trial with $15 of credits. Business is $20 a month, or $18 billed yearly, with unlimited contacts across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and website chat, and $20 of AI credits a month. Usage draws on a prepaid wallet with optional auto-top-up; without it, processing stops at a zero balance until the wallet is funded (Chatfuel pricing, Chatfuel's plans docs, checked 8 October 2026).
UChat is free for up to 200 contacts. Pro is $15 a month, shown as a reduced price from $29, for 1,000 contacts and 5 team members. UChat counts every contact it holds, active or not, and adds $5 a month per extra 1,000 (below 5,000) unless you cap contacts or delete inactive ones. Its AI agent runs on your own API key (UChat pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Pick one of these when more than one person answers the DMs.
respond.io puts WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook in one inbox, with a 7-day trial and no free plan. Starter ($99 a month) has no AI Agents; Growth does, at $199 a month, or $159 billed yearly, for 1,000 monthly active contacts, then $12 per 100 extra contacts (respond.io pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Freshchat, from Freshworks, adds Instagram on its Growth plan: $23 per agent a month, or $19 billed yearly. The Freddy AI Agent costs $49 per 100 sessions after 500 free sessions, once per account, a session being one person's AI chat within 24 hours (Freshchat pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Tidio bills on the conversations your team handles: 50 a month on Free, 100 on Starter at $29 a month, or $24.17 billed yearly. Its Lyro AI Agent is an add-on from $39 a month for 50 AI conversations. Tidio lists an Instagram integration; check which plan includes it (Tidio pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Pick Botpress to design your own AI agent, if you have someone to build it. Its official Instagram integration handles DMs; its page describes no comment triggers (Botpress for Instagram). Plus costs $189 a month for 250 conversations, or $150 a month billed yearly, and the Free plan includes 100 conversations in total, not per month (Botpress pricing, checked 8 October 2026).
Each figure was read on the vendor's own page on 8 October 2026, in US dollars except Inrō (euros). "Billed yearly" is the monthly price when you pay for a year, except LinkDM, which lists only a yearly total.
Read the "Bills on" column first: a busy month costs a different amount in each unit, so price your own last month. Inrō is in euros and the others in dollars, so the table does not convert or rank them. The calculator lets you compare ManyChat and Inrō at your own contact volume.
On Instagram, a business can message someone only after that person acts first, by sending a DM, replying to a story, tapping a click-to-DM ad or commenting (Meta's Instagram messaging docs). A list exported from ManyChat is a record, not an audience you can message from another tool.
When you connect Inrō, it imports your recent Instagram conversation history, so people you already talked to appear as contacts. Inrō cannot import contacts from a spreadsheet or another tool, because Instagram lets it message only people who interacted with your account first (how contacts get into Inrō).

On 8 October 2026, Chatfuel Business ($20) included AI credits, InstantDM Trendsetter ($29.99) and UChat Pro ($15) ran AI on your own model key, and ManyChat started AI on Pro at $39. respond.io included AI Agents from Growth ($199 a month) and Botpress on its Free plan. Tidio and Freshchat sell AI as an add-on; LinkDM lists none.
At the entry plan it is among the cheaper options. On 8 October 2026, ManyChat Essential was $17 a month, against $12 for InstantDM, $15 for UChat, $19 for LinkDM, $20 for Chatfuel, $29 for Tidio and $99 for respond.io. No. Instagram does not support two DM automation tools on one account at the same time. Disconnect ManyChat first, then check that no default app is set in Instagram's conversation routing settings before you switch the new tool on (Inrō's help article on the thread ownership error).
